Convenience is King: Most families lead a very busy lifestyle, so having a nanny can be a plus. A nanny is your right-hand (wo)man, a trusted friend, a companion – who helps you during good and rather hard times too. If you wake up sick or need a day to yourself, a nanny may be able to jump in. Having the freedom of flexibility to not only focus on your children, but focus on you is crucial. You can also decide when and how long you want a nanny in your life and that decision is completely up to you!
Consistency is Key: When working with a nanny, you can arrange a set schedule that suits both of you. Having a nanny that is reliable and willing to work with your arrangement is incredibly beneficial. Sometimes, there might be a school change or a canceled sports practice and it’s even more advantageous to have a nanny around. Overall consistency will promote a healthy working and personal relationship with you and your nanny.
Lower Cost, Boss: Many childcare options out there don’t fit in the average household budget. Daycare centers and premium full-time care can be expensive, so many families resort to nannies. Notably, part-time nannies who either work with you on a temporary or permanent basis. Many nannies are open to reasonable rates you might offer. Or, nannies will provide rates of their own that can fit best with your family budget.
Efficiency is Everything: An experienced nanny will understand your child care expectations and rules to follow. Once they’ve hacked your parent playbook, essentially they become an extension of you. Some nannies may also offer help around the house with cleaning, cooking or both. For example, they can help your children clean up their toys, assist with their meals or even put away their laundry. These tasks would need to be agreed upon by both you and your nanny.
Less on the Stress: “Mommy burnout”, “postpartum depression”, etc. are previously taboo terms that have an army of women behind them now. New parents and new mothers experience a significant shift in their lives that can become difficult to manage. Having a nanny to help out or be readily available for you and your kids is a gift. Don’t be afraid to take a day to yourself or a night out where you can focus on you. When your mental and physical health is at its best, you can be the best parent for your child.
